Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2025

Bimi (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have when you use the Diet-Track mobile app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Photos and Meal Data

When you take or import a meal photo, the image is stored locally on your device.
If you choose to analyze a meal, the app sends that photo (in reduced resolution) and your optional note to OpenAI’s API for image and text analysis.
The analysis returns estimated nutrients, which are saved only on your device.

1.2 Profile Information

You may enter optional data such as age, sex, height, weight, and exercise level to improve insights.
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple’s UserDefaults and is never uploaded to our servers.

1.3 Subscription Data

If you subscribe via the App Store, Apple handles all billing, payment, and account information.
We do not have access to your credit-card details or Apple ID.

2. How We Use Information

We use your data solely to:

  • Display and analyze your nutrition history

  • Improve accuracy of nutrient estimates

  • Manage local preferences (e.g., theme, subscription limits)

We do not:

  • Sell or share personal information

  • Use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs

  • Track you across other apps or websites

3. Data Storage and Security

All meal records, photos, and profile data remain on your device.
When analysis is requested, the image is transmitted securely to api.openai.com using HTTPS.
OpenAI may temporarily process the image to generate the response; you can review their privacy policy at https://openai.com/privacy.

We do not maintain our own backend database or cloud service.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete any meal from the History tab.
Deleting a meal permanently removes its associated photo and nutrient data from your device.
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

5. Children’s Privacy

Bimi is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

6. Your Rights

Because data stays on your device, you have full control:

  • Delete data in-app or by uninstalling the app

  • Choose not to upload any image for analysis

  • Decline camera or photo-library access in iOS Settings

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.
If we make significant changes, the updated version will appear within the app and on our website.
